An exciting new business opportunity at the community-owned Staffin Harbour is now open for applications.
The construction works of the harbour facilities building are scheduled to be completed by the end of this month. Occupancy of the new premises will be available from March onwards.
It follows the opening of seven units at the harbour last year which saw a range of local businesses move in.
The 54m2 building includes a business space comprising of 28m2. The other half of the premises includes four toilets and two showers.
Staffin Community Trust is seeking to rent the whole building to a reliable tenant who can run their business from the premises and ensure the new facilities are open daily for public use, all year round.

SCT has planning permission for the building’s use which is class 6 and class 4, allowing business / office / light industry / storage. Any proposed planning change of use would be the responsibility of the applicant.
The attractive building has a timber cladding frontage, is of double block construction with a corrugated metal roof and an overhang providing shelter for patrons.
Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate that they can meet the aims of the Staffin Harbour community development. These include supporting the local economy, jobs and businesses and the provision of public services (toilets) and contributing to the sustainability of the harbour, which has only been in community ownership for 18 months.
SCT recognises that the tenant must generate a profit from the building in order to run a successful business, and will provide as much support as possible.
Anybody interested in submitting an application should email staffin.ldo@gmail.com for an application form and they will be provided with the plans and further information about the specification and terms. They are very welcome to visit the building and can arrange this with the harbour manager Lachie Gillies via staffinharbourmanager@gmail.com
The deadline for applications is midnight on Thursday, February 26 2026.
SCT is grateful for the support of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Islands Programme and the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund.
