As 2023 draws to a close Urras an Taobh Sear would like to thank the community for all its support over the last 12 months.

From Thursday, January 4 you are very welcome to visit the Taobh Sear / Staffin 2034 exhibition within the Church of Scotland, which will be on display for one week to January 11.

It summarises what was delivered by the volunteer-led Staffin Community Trust in the lats 10 years and looks ahead to the next 10, and seeks the views of local people as to what the the medium to long-term aims of the organisation should be.

January: A short film about the Taighean a' Chaiseil deveopment was released by SCT prior to its AGM. John 'Bertie' MacKenzie was among the interviewees.
February: Rabbies' bus drivers and office staff once again pick up the tools, this time path repairs at Lealt.
March: Baby Ada Wilson, mum Sophie and retired Staffin nurse Isobel MacDonald at Tobar na Slàinte's opening.
April: Busy slipway as announcement made by Scottish Land Fund that it will support a community buy-out.
May: a pilot season of community-run boat tours from the slip gets underway with Uig skipper Andi Dunkel.
June: the SCT board of directors inspect the Nurse's Cottage ahead of the building's purchase from NHSH.
July: the popular Staffin angling competition returned after a four year absence.
August: Blockwork and base completed by Donald John MacLeod and Charlie Elder for Sùil nam Brà.


October: work on providing electricity for first time underway at the harbour.
November: Staffin remembered the Fallen at its two war memorial services. Across the Atlantic the sister of the pilot Paul Overfield who was flying the stricken US warplane which hit Beinn Edra - remembered her brother. Betty Foote pictured with cousin Doug Overfield.
