The community-owned Staffin Harbour has enjoyed the help of a group of hard-working secondary pupils recently.

The Rural Skills course run by Portree High School, in partnership with Skye Youth Development saw the youngsters spend two busy days with harbour manager Lachie Gillies on a number of management and maintenance tasks.

This included pressure washing the historic slipway, laying concrete slabs and fitting new door stops on the harbour sheds. Harbour steering group member Jock Gordon, Robaidh Halliday of Organic Sea Harvest and Skye Scallop Divers' owner James Cameron also worked with the pupils who were taught rope tying skills, painting boats and how to store fresh seafood.
