A SECTION of the Lealt gorge car park, off the A855 Portree-Staffin road, will be cordoned off on Thursday (May 9) to allow essential repairs.
The lower car park – one of two at the popular visitor location - will remain open at both the access and entry points but vehicle spaces will be much reduced.
Visitors to Lealt are urged to make full use of the 20-space upper car park which they can reach by driving through the lower parking area.
Staffin Community Trust is fixing the damaged low-lying timber fence which separates the car park from the main road. It will ensure vehicles do not park on the verge and visibility is kept clear for traffic.
No parking will be allowed in the red or yellow zones, as illustrated in the aerial picture below.

Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching the area from the south and north of the A855.
The work should not take more than a day to complete.

SCT built the popular viewing platform at Lealt in 2018 and the upper car park, as part of its heritage project, the Skye Ecomuseum.
The platform provides commanding views of two waterfalls, the Trotternish Ridge and across to Wester Ross.
